But Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, has given no indication that the measures would be taken up in the Republican-controlled Senate. A GUNMAN wearing body armor opened fire in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday, killing nine people and wounding 27 others, authorities said, in the second mass shooting in the US in less than a day. Police officers who were on procedure patrol nearby arrived on the scene in less than a minute and shot the assailant dead, likely stoping a much higher casualty number, police, and the city's mayor said."In less than one minute, Dayton firstly responders neutralized the shooter.I'm just still fully amazed by our police department," Mayor Nan Whaley said at a news conference. Russian President Vladimir Putin notified on Monday that Moscow would be pressured to start developing short and intermediate-range land-based nuclear missiles if the United States introduced doing so after the demise of a landmark arms control treaty. The United States formally left the Intermediate Nuclear Forces treaty with Russia on Friday after determining that Moscow was violating the treaty and had already deployed at least one prohibits the type of missile, an accusation the Kremlin denies.
